Positive cost variance means actual costs exceeded the estimate. Positive profit variance means actual profit improved.
How the totals work
Each estimated and actual line cost equals quantity × unit cost, rounded to two decimal places. Profit equals entered revenue minus the sum of costs. Margin equals profit ÷ revenue × 100; it is left blank when revenue is zero.
Include labour, materials, overhead and other costs once each. Positive cost variance means spending exceeded the estimate; positive profit variance means profit improved. Only entered costs are included.
