Volume is the measure of three-dimensional space occupied by a solid or available inside a container.
Simple example
A 2 m by 2 m by 2 m cube has volume 8 m³. Capacity uses the container’s internal dimensions.
Units and notation
Read units together with the number. A value without its unit can be ambiguous; a ratio such as a percentage also needs its reference whole.
